General Information
:
A range of assessment methods is used in campus recruitment, so that information can be gathered in different ways. Psychometric tests are just one of these methods.
Psychological tests deal separately with three aspects of people: they differ in their ability to perform or carry out different tasks (Aptitude) they vary in their motivation, in the direction and strength of our interests, and in their values and opinions (Interest) they differ in their style or manner of doing things, and in the way they interact with their environment and other people (Personality).
The number of questions often seem excessive to all but the most able, and usually the problems become more complex as the test progresses. You should not be concerned if you do not complete all of a test - it is the number of correct answers that matters. Unwittingly you have already carried out most of the preparation! Your education and many of your everyday experiences will have taught you how to think, be imaginative, be analytical and logical, have built up your vocabulary, etc.
Experiments show that familiarity with structure, timing, and types of question may help you feel more settled
and confident when facing tests for real. Having a go at puzzles can give you the right train of thought, e.g. crosswords, mathematical teasers. It is also helpful to brush up your basic mental arithmetic, i.e. addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages and ratios.
General Aptitude :
Aptitude is defined as the ability to understand, learn or think things out in a quick and logical manner. Aptitude or intelligence is a direct product of ability to think, which serves as the building block for innovative ideas. Aptitudes are talents, special abilities for doing, or learning to do, certain kinds of things easily and quickly. This, most of us have, but needs to be made available at the right time. Aptitude testing is a method of measuring the mental capacity. It includes the ability to solve problems and arrive at answers and solution in a logical way.
