Module I VLF and LF Transmitting Antennas, Medium Frequency antennas, High frequency antennas, Half wave dipole antennas, Delta matching. Harmonic antennas, Rhombic antennas, Rhombic arrays, Travelling wave antennas. Folded dipole antennas. Yagi - uda antenna - Design.
Module II Reflector antennas and their feed systems - Plane sheet reflectors and diffraction, Corner reflectors - active and passive. Parabolic antennas - general properties - Comparison between parabolic and corner reflectors. The paraboloidal reflector. Cylindrical Parabolic Reflector. Cassegrain feed Lens antennas - Non metallic dielectric lens antennas - Fermat's Principle. Artificial dielectric lens antennas.
Module III Antenna siting and effect of typical imperfect ground. Turnstile antenna, Superturnstile antenna Matching arrangements - Baluns and traps. Patch or microstrip antennas. Antenna design considerations for Satellite Communication. Receiving versus Transmitting considerations. Band width consideration. Antennas at cell site - Unique situation of Cell - Site antennas. Mobile antennas.

Question paper : -
The question paper will consist of two
parts. Part 1 is to cover entire syllabus, and compulsory for 40 marks. This
will contain 10 compulsory questions of 4 marks each.
Part II is to cover 3 modules, and carries 60 marks. There can be 3 questions
from each module ( 10 marks each) out of which 2 are to be answered.
